HISTORY

Stahlkontor was founded in 1908 as a steel-trading firm in the town of Hagen in the south-eastern part of the Ruhr area of Germany. Here, there is a long tradition of iron and steel manufacturing, which dates back to the Middle Ages. In the 19th century, Hagen became one of the important centers of the coal and steel industry south of the Ruhr.

In the early days, Stahlkontor was only involved in special and stainless steel. As time went by, new areas of technical activity were added. The long-standing experience of and expertise in steel as a raw material formed the basis for meeting new technical challenges in the early 1970s: Stahlkontor started to invest in its own processing equipment. In the mid 1980s, the first laser and water-jet cutting equipment went into operation. Since the early 1990s, Stahlkontor has increasingly become a made-to-order expert with particular expertise in the use of modern cutting equipment, so that the company is now a specialist supplier offering a wide range of innovative solutions for very diverse sectors.
